What's included with heat pumps
Heat pumps work well in Pearland because we rarely see prolonged temperatures below freezing. The system pulls heat out of outside air (yes, even cold air has heat in it) and moves it inside. In summer, it runs the cycle in reverse and acts as a regular AC. Here is what we cover.

Backup heat strips and gas backup
Pearland heat pumps usually need a small electric heat strip for the rare days below 35 degrees. We size and install them correctly so you have backup capacity without paying to run them when you do not need to. Annual maintenance

Do heat pumps work in Pearland winters?
Yes, very well. Pearland average winter low temperatures stay above 40 degrees most of the season, and modern heat pumps maintain efficiency well below freezing. Are heat pumps quieter than regular AC?
Variable-speed inverter heat pumps are dramatically quieter than single-stage equipment, often 55 to 60 decibels at the outdoor unit, which is conversation level. Single-stage heat pumps are about the same noise level as a single-stage AC.
Is there still a federal tax credit for heat pumps?
No. The 25C credit (up to $2,000 on qualifying heat pumps) was terminated for systems placed in service after December 31, 2025. If your heat pump went in during 2025 or earlier, your accountant can confirm what applied to that return. For a new install, the incentive to check is the CenterPoint Energy rebate, which we flag on your quote.
Do I need to upgrade my electrical panel?
Sometimes. Heat pumps draw more electrical current than gas furnaces. If your panel is 200 amps and not already loaded up, you are usually fine. 100-amp panels often need an upgrade. We check during the in-home assessment and quote any electrical work transparently.
Can I keep my gas furnace as backup?
Yes, this is called a dual-fuel or hybrid system. The heat pump handles cooling and most of the heating, with the gas furnace kicking in only on the coldest days. It is the most efficient possible setup and a good fit if you already have a working gas furnace.
