The most efficient way to heat and cool a home.
Geothermal heats and cools your home using the steady temperature of the ground, around 70 degrees a few feet down. We install Bosch geothermal and water-source heat pumps, which run roughly 30 to 50 percent more efficient than a standard air-source system. There is no outdoor unit and no flame, and we handle the job from loop design through commissioning.

What's included with geothermal & water-source heat pumps
A geothermal system is only as good as its loop design. This is how our installs go.
Site evaluation & design
We measure the property and look at soil and groundwater conditions. A heat-loss calculation on the house sets the load, and the loop field is designed to carry it.
Loop installation
Depending on the lot, the loop goes in vertical bores or horizontal trenches. We coordinate the drilling crew and pressure-test the loop before anything is backfilled.
Indoor system install
Inside, a Bosch water-source heat pump ties into your existing ductwork. A desuperheater can preheat your water heater with heat the system would otherwise throw away. We rebalance the air side so every room gets its share.
Commissioning & monitoring
We charge the loop and balance the water flow, then check airflow at each register. The baseline performance numbers are written down, so you know what normal looks like.
Is geothermal right for your home?
Geothermal does not fit every home. It comes down to lot size and soil, and how long you plan to stay. These are the cases where it makes the most sense.
- You own your home and plan to stay 7+ years
- Lot has room for vertical bores or horizontal trenches
- You want the lowest possible operating cost
- Replacing a 15+ year old system anyway
- Planning to stay in the home 15+ years
- Building new construction (best time to install)
- No gas line, or you want to eliminate combustion
- You care about long lifespan and low maintenance
- Want one system for heating and cooling that also preheats your hot water
- Energy bills are higher than you want to keep paying
How a visit works
Six steps. No surprises. Same on your first call as your fiftieth.
-
Free feasibility consult
We walk the property and look at your equipment room. After a look at your utility bills, we tell you plainly whether geothermal makes sense for the house and the budget.
-
Engineered design & quote
Heat-loss calculations and loop sizing come first. Then the equipment gets picked and you get a fixed-price quote, with projected operating costs and the payback math.
-
Drilling or trenching
Vertical bores usually take 1 to 3 days, horizontal trenches 1 to 2. We manage the crew and supervise on site.
-
Loop pressure test
Before any backfill, the loop holds pressure for 24 hours or more. If it passes, it gets buried. If it does not, we find the leak first.
-
Indoor install
The heat pump goes in your mechanical room and connects to the ductwork, the refrigerant lines and the loop. Plan on 2 to 3 days.
-
Commissioning
The loop is charged and flow rates set, airflow is measured at every register, and you get a written commissioning report with the baseline numbers.
- $99 Diagnostic visit ($79 for new customers), waived when you approve the repair
- Free In-home estimates on new systems
- Same price Nights, weekends, and holidays. No overtime fees.
What Pearland neighbors are saying
"Angelo did an outstanding job checking our HVAC system today! He was professional, knowledgeable, and extremely thorough from start to finish. He carefully inspected everything both inside and outside of our home, including going up into the attic, which we’ve had other companies skip in the past."
"Robert Britt, and Clear The Air is a honest man, and a honest company. They will be the only company I use for any of my AC needs."
"I've had a couple of different technicians come out and all of them have been very professional and transparent with the repairs and advice they have given. Joe Johnson was the most recent and did a great job diagnosing the issue I was having."
Frequently asked
How much more efficient is geothermal?
A standard AC rated 14 to 20 SEER works out to a COP of about 3 to 4 in cooling. A geothermal heat pump runs around COP 4 to 6 in cooling and 3 to 5 in heating. So each dollar of electricity moves $4 to $6 of heat, where an air-source system moves $3 to $4. Over a Houston cooling season that is a real drop in the bill.
How much does geothermal cost?
More than a conventional system, and it varies a lot with house size, loop type (vertical or horizontal) and equipment. The 30 percent federal credit ended for installs completed after 2025, so there is no federal discount on a new system. After the site visit we give you a fixed-price proposal for your home.
How long does geothermal last?
The ground loop lasts 50 years or more, long enough to outlive several heat pumps. The indoor unit usually outlasts a conventional AC, because nothing sits outside in the weather or the salt air.
Do I have enough lot for geothermal?
Many Pearland and Friendswood lots can take it one of two ways. Vertical bores are deep, narrow holes that need very little yard. Horizontal trenches run longer and need more land. We look at your lot and tell you which fits.
What about the federal tax credit?
The 30 percent Residential Clean Energy Credit (Section 25D) ended for geothermal expenditures made after December 31, 2025, so it does not apply to a new install. If your system was finished in 2025 or earlier, ask your accountant what applied to that return. Today we quote geothermal on operating cost and loop life alone.
Will geothermal work with my existing ducts?
Usually. We measure static pressure and airflow before quoting and tell you if the ducts need work. A geothermal heat pump moves about as much air as standard equipment, so ducts that were too small before will still be too small.
Do I still need a furnace?
No. A properly sized geothermal system handles all the heating and cooling for most Pearland homes, and our winters are easy work for it. We rarely recommend backup electric heat here, but we can add it if you want it.
How long does the install take?
Plan on 1 to 2 weeks start to finish. Drilling or trenching takes 1 to 3 days, the indoor install 2 to 3, and commissioning and final balancing a day. We tell you ahead of time which days will be noisy.
Do you do residential and commercial?
Yes. We have put geothermal in Pearland homes and small commercial buildings, and the engineering is the same at either size. For something unusual, like a workshop or detached pool house, we can design one loop that serves several zones.
