The hidden reason your AC doesn't cool.
A brand-new high-efficiency AC cannot make up for ducts that leak or were sized wrong, or that have rotted in the attic. A lot of the leaky systems we test lose a big share of their cooled air before it reaches a room. We repair and replace ducts, seal them with Aeroseal and redesign them to Manual D, and we measure static pressure before and after every job.

What's included with ductwork repairs & air duct replacement
Ductwork gets ignored more than any other part of the system, and fixing it can change how the whole house feels. Here is what we do.
Duct inspection & static pressure test
We measure airflow at every register and static pressure at the unit. The readings show where the problems are.
Aeroseal duct sealing
Aeroseal pressurizes the ducts and seals the leaks from the inside with an aerosol, down to the pinholes at the seams. We measure leakage before and after, so you see the change in numbers.
Duct redesign (Manual D)
Some houses had ducts sized wrong from the start. We redesign and rebuild the trunk lines and runs so every room gets its share of air.
Full duct replacement
When ducts are crushed or rotted, or full of mold, we tear them out. The new runs are R-8 insulated flex or hard pipe.
What does it cost?
See real replacement ranges in 60 seconds, based on real local installs. No phone number required to see the number.
Signs your ducts are the problem
When the AC runs and the rooms still will not cool, the ducts are usually why.
- One or two rooms are always too hot or too cold
- AC runs constantly but the house never gets cool
- Energy bills high despite a newer AC
- Whistling or rumbling sounds from vents
- Visible mold or sagging ducts in the attic
- Dust pours out of the registers when AC kicks on
- House feels humid even with AC running
- Filter gets dirty within days of changing
- Recent AC install but comfort hasn't improved
- Building an addition and need new ducts
How a visit works
Five steps. No surprises. Same on your first call as your fiftieth.
-
Schedule an inspection
A tech goes into the attic and measures airflow at every register. He runs a static pressure test and looks for leaks and damage.
-
Written report with options
You see the readings and your choices, from sealing alone up to partial replacement or a full redesign. Each comes with its own written quote.
-
Pick a date
Aeroseal sealing takes a single day. Full replacement is 1 to 3 days depending on the house, and we confirm the timeline 24 hours ahead.
-
Work day(s)
A two-tech crew puts down drop cloths and protects the attic. Airflow gets tested before and after so you can see what changed.
-
Verification & report
We measure static pressure and airflow again and write down the results. You keep the before and after numbers.
- $99 Diagnostic visit ($79 for new customers), waived when you approve the repair
- Free In-home estimates on new systems
- Same price Nights, weekends, and holidays. No overtime fees.
What Pearland neighbors are saying
"Clear the Air did a great job with replacing the ductwork. Michael Schmidt inspected the heating system and the ducts, explained to me the issues, what was more urgent to replace, and other recommendations that would improve the air even more."
"Robert came out to inspect our a/c ducts, which need replacement. He arrived on time and did a thorough inspection of our duct work and a/c unit. He was very detailed in his findings and was very professional, answering all of my questions in an effective and timely manner."
"Robert found 2 (30 + years old) ducts disconnected at the unit. He was able to patch them back in and for a reasonable price. Robert offered some simple, sage advice for helping my system last until we can get the original ducts replaced."
Frequently asked
What does ductwork repair include?
Anything from sealing leaks at the fittings to replacing crushed or kinked flex. It also covers torn insulation, collapsed trunk lines and branch runs that were laid out badly. Every repair starts with a static pressure test, so we fix the sections that are actually choking the airflow. Most ductwork repairs in Pearland take half a day to a day.
How much does air duct replacement cost?
It scales with the square footage of the house and how hard the attic is to work in. Swapping flex for flex costs less than moving to hard pipe trunks with R-8 flex branches. Our online estimator gives a range for your square footage. After the inspection, the written quote itemizes tear-out and new R-8 material, registers and balancing, plus the static pressure test before and after.
When should ducts be replaced vs. repaired?
Replace them if they are rotted or moldy, crushed in several places, too small for the system, or more than 25 years old. If they are mostly intact with leaks or sagging sections, repair and seal them. We show you the static pressure numbers and attic photos and recommend the cheaper option that will work. When a repair will fix it, we do not sell a replacement.
How do I know if I have duct problems?
Rooms that never cool to the same temperature are the first sign. So is an AC that runs all day and never catches up, or a power bill that jumps for no clear reason. A static pressure measurement settles it, and it comes free with any ductwork inspection.
What is Aeroseal?
Aeroseal pressurizes your duct system and injects an aerosol that finds the leaks from the inside. The particles build up at each leak and bond into a permanent seal. It seals leaks we could never reach by hand, usually in a single day with no demolition.
How much can I save by sealing my ducts?
That depends on how leaky the ducts are to begin with, which is why we test first. Aeroseal measures leakage as it works, so you get the before and after numbers from your own house.
Can you redesign my ductwork?
Yes. We run Manual D calculations to size each run for the air it has to carry. Additions and second-story rooms are often undersized from the start, and sealing will not fix that. A redesign rebuilds the trunk and branches so the house balances.
How long does duct work take?
Aeroseal sealing is one day, and so is replacing a few damaged sections. A full duct replacement on a 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft home takes 2 to 3 days.
Do you need to access my attic?
Yes. In most Pearland homes the ducts are in the attic. We lay drop cloths over the insulation and put down walking boards, and we clean up at the end.
Is duct cleaning part of this?
Yes, we offer whole-house duct cleaning with rotary brushes and negative air. We recommend it when there is a reason, like renovation dust, pets or allergies, mold after a leak, or debris you can see in the registers. If your ducts are clean, we will tell you. We also clean ducts when we replace or seal them, and treat for mold when we find it.
Will duct work disrupt my home?
Less than you might think, since most of the work happens in the attic. We protect the floors and contain the dust, then clean up at the end of each day. Aeroseal is especially clean because nothing gets removed.
