Shade changes the size
The easy way to size a replacement is to read the tonnage off the old unit and round up. On a south-facing Friendswood house under mature oaks, that tends to give the wrong answer. Shade takes a real bite out of the heat load, and a Manual J that accounts for it will often call for less equipment than what's in the yard now.

Our installs use the manufacturer's matched pair. Line sets are brazed with a nitrogen purge, pulled into a vacuum to spec, and charged by weight to the label. Before we leave we measure airflow, charge and temperature split and write them down for you. If only one half has failed, a condenser or coil replacement starts at $4,800, and we'll tell you whether the other half can stay.
