Houses built before anyone planned for ducts
Bellaire's older homes have shallow attics and pier-and-beam crawlspaces with no room for a modern air handler. A standard install plan doesn't fit them. What works is one of three setups. High-velocity small-duct systems run 2-inch supply lines through the stud bays without opening the ceilings. Ductless mini-splits go where a house was never meant to have ducts. Hybrids handle houses where one zone takes central air and another goes ductless.
Installed well, a system like that gives a 1948 cottage comfort it has never had. Installed badly, it's loud and it leaves the house damp.
