One system. Cooling and heating.
A heat pump is a single piece of equipment that cools your Pearland home in summer and heats it in winter, and it runs on electricity. Our climate suits them well. Mild winters mean a heat pump rarely has to work hard, and CenterPoint Energy rebates on qualifying systems help the math. We install Trane and Goodman heat pumps, including variable-speed inverter models, and we service and replace every brand.
- CenterPoint rebates on qualifying systems
- Variable-speed inverter options
- Free in-home assessment
- 10-year parts warranty
What's included with heat pumps
Heat pumps work well in Pearland because we rarely see prolonged temperatures below freezing. The system pulls heat out of outside air (yes, even cold air has heat in it) and moves it inside. In summer, it runs the cycle in reverse and acts as a regular AC. Here is what we cover.
Heat pump installation
New systems for new construction and additions, plus homes converting from gas. We run the load calculation and pick the equipment, then handle the electrical and the air handler.
Heat pump replacement
Like-for-like replacement of an aging heat pump. Most Pearland heat pumps last 12 to 15 years. We replace the outdoor unit and the indoor air handler as a matched system, with the AHRI certificate on the quote.
Heat pump repair
No cooling, no heating, ice on the outdoor unit, defrost cycle stuck on, reversing valve issues. Diagnostic fee is $99 ($79 for new customers, $20 off), waived when you approve the repair. Most repairs handled same day.
Variable-speed inverter heat pumps
Inverter heat pumps from Trane, and Mitsubishi on the ductless side, ramp their output up and down with the load. They run long, gentle cycles that pull more water out of the air and use less electricity, and they are quieter than single-stage equipment.
Backup heat strips and gas backup
Pearland heat pumps usually need a small electric heat strip for the rare days below 35 degrees. We size and install them correctly so you have backup capacity without paying to run them when you do not need to. Hybrid systems with gas backup are another option.
Annual maintenance
A heat pump works year-round, so it needs maintenance twice a year, spring and fall. Clear Advantage covers both visits, including the reversing valve check and defrost cycle verification.
Is a heat pump right for your home?
Heat pumps are not the right call for every home, but they are the right call for a lot more Pearland homes than people realize. If most of these apply, ask us for a heat pump quote alongside your traditional AC quote. We will price both and show you the difference.
- You do not currently have natural gas to your home
- Your gas bill is high in winter and you want to cut it
- You are replacing both the AC and the furnace at the same time
- You want to qualify for CenterPoint Energy rebates
- You have solar panels and want to maximize what they offset
- You would rather have one system than a separate AC and furnace
- You are doing a major renovation or new construction
- You want quieter cooling and heating
How a visit works
Four steps. No surprises. Same on your first call as your fiftieth.
-
Free in-home assessment
A comfort advisor walks the home, runs Manual J load calculations, and checks that the electrical service has room for a heat pump. Plan on about an hour.
-
Heat pump quote alongside traditional
We give you a side-by-side comparison of a heat pump system and a traditional AC plus gas furnace setup. The 10-year cost of ownership often favors the heat pump in Pearland, especially with utility rebates factored in.
-
Permit, install, commissioning
We pull the City of Pearland permit and schedule the install, most of which take one day. The lines are pulled into a deep vacuum before the refrigerant is weighed in. The thermostat is set up for heat pump operation, and the reversing valve is checked in both modes.
-
Rebate paperwork
We give you the AHRI certificate and the documentation you need for any utility rebate. The federal 25C credit ended for systems placed in service after 2025, so we no longer show it on quotes. Everything you need is in the install folder.
- $99 Diagnostic visit ($79 for new customers), waived when you approve the repair
- Free In-home estimates on new systems
- Same price Nights, weekends, and holidays. No overtime fees.
What Pearland neighbors are saying
"Robert Britt came to diagnose a problem with our Trane heat pump. He arrived promptly and took his time checking the system. After he discovered the problem, he explained it and arranged for the new part and warranty work. This company has always had good communication and they are always on time."
"Angelo did a thorough Spring check-up on our water source heat pump system. He was professional, pleasant and kept us informed about his arrival time. We're very pleased!"
"The prices I was quoted were very reasonable and the service was quick and efficient. The inspection was very thorough and I'm confident in the work that was done. I'd definitely use them again. Michael was very easy to work with and didn't try to oversell me, which was greatly appreciated."
Frequently asked
Do heat pumps work in Pearland winters?
Yes. Most Pearland winter nights stay above freezing, and a current heat pump keeps working efficiently below that. For the handful of nights that drop into the 20s, a small backup heat strip or a gas furnace picks up the slack.
How much does a heat pump cost in Pearland?
Heat pump systems start from about $7,500 installed for a basic single-stage 14.3 SEER2 system. A 3-ton variable-speed Trane runs roughly $14,000 to $20,600. Tonnage and ductwork set where yours lands, and we note any CenterPoint Energy rebate your system qualifies for on the quote.
How does a heat pump compare to a traditional AC plus furnace?
Heat pumps cost slightly more upfront than equivalent AC plus furnace, but the gas furnace goes away and one system runs year-round. Operating costs in Pearland tend to be lower with a heat pump, since it moves heat and our winters rarely push it hard. For the full decision framework with operating-cost math, read our deep-dive on whether a heat pump fits your Houston home.
Are heat pumps quieter than regular AC?
Variable-speed inverter heat pumps are much quieter than single-stage equipment, since most of the time they run at low speed. Single-stage heat pumps are about the same noise level as a single-stage AC.
Is there still a federal tax credit for heat pumps?
No. The 25C credit (up to $2,000 on qualifying heat pumps) was terminated for systems placed in service after December 31, 2025. If your heat pump went in during 2025 or earlier, your accountant can confirm what applied to that return. For a new install, the incentive to check is the CenterPoint Energy rebate, which we flag on your quote.
Do I need to upgrade my electrical panel?
Sometimes. Heat pumps draw more electrical current than gas furnaces. If your panel is 200 amps and not already loaded up, you are usually fine. 100-amp panels often need an upgrade. We check during the in-home assessment and quote any electrical work transparently.
Can I keep my gas furnace as backup?
Yes, this is called a dual-fuel or hybrid system. The heat pump handles cooling and most of the heating, with the gas furnace kicking in only on the coldest days. It is a good fit if you already have a working gas furnace.
