Jason took over Clear the Air in 2006, twenty years into the company's life and at a point where most family-owned trades businesses either go institutional or quietly fold. He picked the third path: stay family-owned, stay local, raise the bar on craft and standards.

The standards came directly from his father Mike Stom, who founded Clear the Air in 1990 after a career at NASA on the Gemini, Apollo, and Space Shuttle programs. The "failure is not an option" mindset, the obsession with documenting every step, the refusal to sell what the customer does not need: those came home from NASA and have been part of the company ever since.

Jason runs the business out of the Pearland office at 1918 County Rd 130. His wife Dawn works alongside him. Their children Liam and Holly are now in the company too. The team is around 16 people, all based locally, with full-time techs who train every week.

Where Jason has been published

Six independent features in HVACR Business and The ACHR News, the two largest US trade publications covering residential and commercial HVAC. The most-cited piece is the 2014 HVACR Business "20 Questions" interview, conducted by Terry Tanker the same year Clear the Air won the magazine's "Tops in Trucks" award.

How to reach Jason

The fastest way to reach the business is the website forms or 281-992-7866. Press inquiries, partnerships, and trade-publication interview requests can come through the contact page or press kit. Customer questions about a quote or service call should go through the standard booking and reach the team that handles your job; routing those through Jason directly slows things down.
